Looking for a hands-on community service organization that serves Smith County, TX?  As part of Kiwanis International we have programs and projects that help make our community stronger.

From The Spirit of Christmas Food Drive (we pick up the food from the Brookshire's store, sort it, box it, and deliver it to people in need), to the annual Christmas party for all the children enrolled at Tyler Day Nursery (we provide toys and a visit from Santa) and many projects in between we are a club that wants to participate in community service.

The Tyler-Rose City Kiwanis Club is all about the kids.  We believe in building leadership in the youth of our community.  We do this through sponsoring clubs at elementary, middle, high school and college levels.  Our K-Kids (elemenatary), Builder's Club (middle school) Key Clubs (High School) and Circle K (college) give students an opportunity to learn leadership skills while planning and executing community service projects.  This program which we call SLP's (Student Leadership Programs) could use your help.  We need more club members who would like to mentor these students.

We also focus on promoting reading and the love of books with elementary age children.  Each year our McAfee Reading Program brings a new book to each Kindergarten child enrolled in Tyler ISD.  Club members read to Kindergarten classes and present each child with a book they can take home and keep for their own.  We would love to expand our program to reach every child in Whitehouse and Chapel Hill. Perhaps you would enjoy helping with this program as we need more volunteers to read to these classes.

The Kiwanis is an International Service Organization which believes that globally we can change the world for the better.  With clubs spanning the globe we come together for worldwide service.  Since 2010 we have been working with UNICEF to ELIMINATE maternal/neonatal tetanus from our planet.  It only takes $1.80 to immunize a woman and save her and her future babies.  Won't you help us save a life?

Please read thru our website..we are sure you will find a project that speaks to your interests in making our community a great place to live and raise our children. Join us for our weekly meetings, every Thursday morning at 6:45 am in the fellowship hall of Shiloh Road Church of Christ (come to the south side of the building and follow the sidewalk between the office and the church).  We serve a breakfast buffet and would enjoy meeting you.  Our meeting is over at 7:50 am so you can get to work on time.

Have questions?  Please use this contact form and we will be in touch promptly.
